What does learning mean to us?
The learning experience at Pechersk School International is shaped by a spirit of community, whereby students, teachers and parents work together to achieve our goals of creating successful, independent learners and global citizens.
PSI offers three of International Baccalaureate (IB®) programmes, beginning with the IB® Primary Years Programme for ages 3-12, through the Middle Years Programme for ages 13-16, and the Diploma Programme for ages 16-19.
Our definition of learning
PSI, as an IB World School, defines learning as a holistic, purposeful, learner-centred and inquiry-based process.
At PSI, learners engage in a personalised journey of discovery, reflection and action, which is motivated by their passions and interests. Recognising that learning is limitless, individuals collaboratively build their knowledge, skills and understanding in academics, arts, athletics, and service, with the well-being of themselves and the wider global community in mind.

What our students say...
I've been at PSI for eleven years, since 2013, and in the 2024-2025 school year, I am going to graduate from what I affectionately call 'my home.'
One of the few constants in my life has been my school - PSI. This is because of how amazing our team is, how resilient the teachers are, overcoming challenges while still prioritizing students and devising optimal solutions so that we, the students, get the most out of our education and social experiences at school.
The student-teacher dynamic is incredible. Teachers actively engage with us, making us feel like they are integral parts of our classes! It's reassuring to have teachers whom you trust and who you can always count on for help without fear.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between an IB school and other international education programmes?
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognised, inquiry-based approach to education. Unlike content-heavy or test-focused programmes, the IB develops students who think critically, ask questions, and consider multiple perspectives. It focuses not just on what students learn, but how they learn — with an emphasis on international mindedness, social responsibility, and real-world application.
At PSI, this philosophy runs through everything we do, from kindergarten to graduation.
At what ages do students begin each IB programme at PSI?
PSI is authorised to offer all three IB programmes:
+ Primary Years Programme (PYP): ages 3–11 (Kindergarten to Grade 5)
+ Middle Years Programme (MYP): ages 11–16 (Grades 6–10)
+ Diploma Programme (DP): ages 16–18 (Grades 11–12)
Is the PSI diploma recognised internationally and in Ukraine?
Yes. PSI High School Diploma is equivalent to the United States High School Diploma.
As an IB World School, PSI also offers the IB Diploma, which is widely accepted by universities around the world. In addition to that, students are able to graduate through different pathways:
+ High School Diploma
+ High School Diploma + IB Course Certificates
+High School Diploma + IB Diploma

PSI also offers a general education curriculum approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, ensuring that our Ukrainian students can choose to graduate with credentials recognised both internationally and nationally.
How are students supported if they join without prior IB experience?
Many of our students join PSI without previous experience in an IB school — and they thrive. Our educators are trained to support and provide transitions, so that each student can adapt, engage, and succeed. We also offer language support, personalised learning pathways, and regular communication with families.
Our school has a student learning support team.
What languages are taught at PSI?
English is the main language of instruction at PSI. Ukrainian, Spanish and French are offered as additional languages.
How are students assessed in the IB system? Are there grades?
Assessment in the IB is continuous, varied, and focused on understanding rather than memorisation.
Students are assessed through projects, presentations, portfolios, and reflective tasks. In Secondary, formal grading is introduced using the IB 1–7 scale, alongside qualitative feedback. Parents receive regular progress updates and student-led conference opportunities.
What counselling or well-being support is available?
PSI has dedicated student support team that works with children in Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary schools.
We offer social-emotional learning programmes, well-being check-ins, and one-on-one counselling. Our approach is strengths-based and proactive, creating a safe, supportive environment for every learner.
How does PSI incorporate Ukrainian identity and history into learning?
As a school rooted in Ukraine, we integrate Ukrainian culture, history, and values throughout the learning journey.
This includes Ukrainian language classes, school-wide commemorations, local service projects, and a commitment to building pride in Ukraine’s identity and future.
How do students engage with service learning or community projects?
Service learning is an essential part of the IB and of life at PSI.
From early years, students participate in age-appropriate projects that connect learning to real-world impact.
Older students lead initiatives, volunteer with NGOs, and co-create projects in response to community needs — particularly those linked to Ukraine’s recovery and resilience.
How does PSI ensure continuity of learning during times of crisis?
Our team is experienced in delivering high-quality education even under challenging circumstances.
PSI has developed robust emergency and contingency plans, including hybrid and distance learning models, strong communication channels, and flexible approaches that support each family's situation.
What safety protocols are in place on campus?
PSI follows strict safety procedures to ensure the well-being of students and staff. This includes trained emergency teams, on-site shelter facilities, regular drills, secure access controls, and coordination with local and diplomatic authorities.
Safety is continuously reviewed and adjusted to match the evolving context.
Does PSI offer university counselling or career guidance?
Yes. Our Secondary students benefit from tailored university and careers counselling starting in Grade 9. We support families through every stage — from career exploration and subject selection to university applications, essays, and scholarship opportunities.
PSI graduates have gone on to top universities across Europe, North America, and beyond.
